HMS ''Chainshot'' commissioned in May of 2016, under the command of then-[[Commander]] [[Sir]] Joseph Harney.<ref name="BSD160506">[[BuShips Directive 1605-06]]</ref> Less than a month later, this hull was incorporated as a founding member of [[Destroyer Division 231]], which was itself assigned to [[Task Group 91.1]].<ref name="Naval Directive 16JUN-01">[[Naval Directive 16JUN-01]]</ref> In August of that year, however, ''Chainshot'' was returned to the [[Royal Manticoran Reserve Fleet|Active Reserve]] upon the crew's upgrade to {{hms|Revenge|SD-317|hcn}}.<ref name="BuShips Directive 1608-08">[[BuShips Directive 1608-08]]</ref>
