Commissioned as an upgrade from {{hms|Princess Samantha|CA-100|hcn}} in June of 2015 under the command of [[Captain of the List]] Karolyn Byers, ''Salamander'' was initially assigned to [[Third Fleet]], out of [[wikipedia:Waynesboro, VA|Waynesboro, VA]].<ref name="BSD150604">[[BuShips Directive 1506-04]]</ref> Just over two months later, she joined {{hms|Specter|CLAC-29}} and {{hms|Devastation|DD-44}} in the activation of CLACDIV 624.<ref name="Naval Directive 15AU-04">[[Naval Directive 15AU-04]]</ref> Unfortunately, due to an inability to fill the command triad, the ship was decommissioned and placed into [[Royal Manticoran Reserve Fleet|Active Reserve]] in November of 2016.<ref name="BSD161110">[[BuShips Directive 1611-10]]</ref>

''Salamander'' was returned to service in late February, 2018, under the command of Captain (Junior Grade) John Gilfillan, this time in Sixth Fleet as an upgrade from {{hms|Titan|SD-160|hcn}}<ref name="BSD180205">[[BuShips Directive 1802-05]]</ref> Beating her prior incarnation's record, this iteration was assigned to an echelon unit in just over a week, taking her place in TG 61.1 in early March.<ref name="ND18MAR02">[[Naval Directive 18MAR-02]]</ref> Assigned to CLACDiv 654 some point over the subsequent two years, ''Salamander'' was returned to detached operation within TG 61.1 in February of 2020.<ref name="ND20FE02">[[Naval Directive 20FE-02]]</ref> With her crew being transferred entirely over to the newly commissioned {{rhns|Tourbillion|CL-3983}}, HMS ''Salamander'' was decommissioned and returned to the Active Reserve.<ref name="BSD210504">[[BuShips Directive 2105-04]]</ref>
