BuShips Directive 1709-01 was issued 01 September 2017 under the authority of the Third Space Lord. This directive establishes the Merchant Marine Safety Office.

Attention:
In conjunction with the Home Secretary and in support of the Royal Manticoran Merchant Marine, the Bureau of Ships is pleased to establish the Merchant Marine Safety Office (MMSO), effective on this date 1 September 2017.
To that end, any and all citizens wishing to pursue a license for their shuttle, courier, freighter, passenger liner, or other civilian craft may do so by submitting an inquiry to BuShips (buships@trmn.org). The MMSO Staff shall guide interested parties through the process of obtaining their license in a quality fashion.
At this time, Captain (jg) Sir Justin Dupras, KE, OG, GS, CBM, RMN shall take on these duties collaterally until a permanent Director is appointed.
The above order is effective on this date, 01 September 2017.
